About This Site
Exercises Fitness Hub is written by a retired mail carrier in his late sixties who started exercising at home after a close call on his own porch steps. Every article covers one piece of simple, low-impact equipment he actually uses: a seated under-desk elliptical, flat resistance bands, a foam balance pad, adjustable ankle weights and a hand grip trainer set. The goal is plain information for older adults who want to keep their legs, balance and grip strong enough for everyday life, from climbing stairs to working in the garden.

Exercise Safety
Talk to your doctor or a physical therapist before starting any new exercise routine, especially if you have heart or blood pressure concerns, joint replacements, osteoporosis, recent surgery, dizziness, or a history of falls. Nothing on this site is medical advice, and the routines described here are one person's experience, not a prescription.
Balance work carries a real fall risk. Always practice next to something solid you can grab, such as a counter, a heavy dresser or a wall, on a clear floor with good lighting and no rugs to catch a foot. Stop if you feel lightheaded. Never use a foam balance pad on stairs or a step edge.
Resistance bands can snap or slip. Inspect bands for nicks, thinning or sticky spots before each use, anchor them securely, keep them away from your face, and replace any band that shows wear. Ankle weights should never be worn while walking outdoors, running or climbing stairs, and should start light; too much weight can strain the knees, hips and lower back. Seated pedal machines should be used from a stable chair that will not roll, with the machine on a non-slip surface. With grip trainers, start at the lightest resistance and stop if you feel pain, numbness or tingling in your hands or wrists.
Stop any exercise that causes sharp pain, chest discomfort, shortness of breath or a racing heart, and seek medical help if symptoms do not settle quickly.
